As we know, life is a journey with a future, a past, and a now. We can plan for the future and practice being in the now, but what about those places we’ve been? What about that history?
It’s good to study history, because it’s valuable to know where we have come from. And, on this nobody road we’re on together, history tells us something else: That the nobody concept – this nobody life – isn’t new. People have been on the nobody pathway for years, and many of the tools we use to get in touch with that side of our being are ancient, as well.
J. A.’s books (The Nobody Bible and An Audible Silence) honor this history, and delve deep into how some important teachings from some of the world’s most ancient and revered traditions can help us mine the gold in modern life. In other words, what’s “old” can help us as we try to live a “new” and better life.
And that’s the spirit of this part of the website.
This section is called, “Historical Landmarks,” because this is where we’ll dive into history and find out a little more about the folks who came before us – spiritual and non-spiritual – who made it possible for us to have the tools and philosophies we have today.
We’ll examine the ancient paths of mindfulness , the longs roads of meditation, and philosophies and belief systems that echo through the ages encouraging us to get in touch with nothing, emptiness, stillness, and the void.
Even though The Nobody Guide to Life project was created in the modern world, the concepts that underlie it are ancient. As you cruise along with us, I hope you’ll pull over, get out, and take some time to appreciate the historical markers that make this journey so special, and so relevant.
